Following the Bulls excellent 2-1 victory over Curzon Ashton at the Tameside Stadium on Saturday, Paul Caddis’ side will next endeavour to maintain their superb away record at Warrington on Tuesday evening.

Warrington fell to a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Oxford City at the weekend, and as a result have now not won at Cantilever Park since the 24th of August, though they did gain the three points away at Radcliffe ten days ago, and have re-instated Paul Carden as their manager. Their defeat of ten-man Radcliffe pushed the Cheshire club clear of the bottom four.

Times are hard for the Wire. They’ve lost significant money over the last two years. Their manager, top goal scorer and two key defenders chose to leave. Building the extra stand last season negatively impacted on their cash flow. Their average attendances this season are below 900, around 24% down on last season’s figure, another cause for concern That’s pretty modest for the biggest football club in a town of over 210,000 people.

On paper, they’ve replaced the 6 departees, indeed their squad looks large with 4 registered keepers and 5 strikers (was 7 but two have just left). But they are a young bunch, many are inexperienced and mainly non-contract. They’ve even been fielding a 17-year-old loanee Josh Miles from Blackpool. Names to look out include key midfielder Bohan Dixon, in his second spell with his 16th club. Top scorer is Connor Woods who has three this season. (Woods was one of three Warrington players sent off against the Bulls last term. Hereford went on to win both matches). Ollie Southern played the first 3 matches this term, but has barely featured since due to injury.

Warrington can be defensively stubborn, escaping with a point each time after visiting top four sides Chorley and Scunthorpe. A one all draw is their most common 2024/25 result.

Our visit to Cheshire is our fifth straight away game in all competitions. Thus far, we’re looking superbly efficient on the road. We’re unbeaten away in the National League North, with four clean sheets in the last 8 games, plus we’re the 2nd top scorers in the league with 18 goals. Only Chorley with 19 have scored more.

So then Paul Caddis should expect to see a healthy away following at Warrington on Tuesday.

Admission is £14/ £10 in advance or £15/£10 on the night (cash only- how quaint)-

Buy tickets – Warrington Town v Hereford – Cantilever Park

Parking is nearby streets only, and probably not too difficult midweek given the size of the home crowd.

It’s our second game at Warrington within a 6 month period, and the trip up from the shire shouldn’t be too taxing so make sure you are there if you can. Let’s continue to give Paul Caddis’ squad our full backing. Given that the Chester away game offers only 500 tickets for Hereford fans, this could be your last away match for quite a while!

But fear not if you’re unable to make it Radio Hereford FC will be covering the match live with full match commentary.
