Get to Edgar Street on Saturday and celebrate the Bulls. This weekend is our last regular season match and could be our last football this term. We have to hope that somebody can do us a favour. Realistically the chances aren’t that good of playing any knock out football. If you’re a pessimist like me that could be the painful, hurtful, and rather numbing experience we are heading for after such a promising campaign.
Accepting all that, we must not forget that the pride and belief is back at Edgar Street. We’ve made more progress on the field and off it too. Attendances are higher, results are overall much better and income is consequently increased. We beat Brackley home and away. We won at Kings Lynn. We beat Alfreton and Leamington for the first time in years. We won ten away league games.
We could only dream of such outcomes before. There have been so many good moments this season, so many bursts of euphoria that only football can bring. We should not overlook them. That’s what keeps us interested. We have things to celebrate – our important upward trends arguably mean more than a ticket to a lottery.
We’ll give it our best shot on Saturday at what is surely the loudest ground in National League North. That’s another reason for pride in our club and community.
Cue wild celebrations if we get over the line. If we don’t then can we muster brave faces and try to focus on what we do have – an improving football club.
Be proud. Be LOUD. Celebrate what we have.
