HUST have confirmed that its application to renew Edgar Street Athletic Ground as an Asset of Community Value for a further 5 years has been approved by Herefordshire Council.
Trust chairman, Richard Tomkins, said, “Edgar Street is our home. Every supporter tells me this. The trust is delighted to act as the catalyst to keep it so.”
The Hereford FC board of directors have welcomed the extension stating they believe that the ACV works in parallel with the clubs long-held plans to remain at Edgar Street for the foreseeable future.
A spokesperson for the club revealed, “We have worked hard over recent seasons to not only ensure an extension to the lease for Edgar Street, but to work with the Council in reviewing and improving facilities for supporters.
“Improved facilities will also help to generate additional revenue streams that, with support from fans, will contribute to the development of the club.
“Edgar Street has proved to be a fantastic asset for the local community over the years and we are proud of the part that Hereford FC continues to play within the local community.
“The stadium itself is ideally situated at the heart of the community, and we are delighted to welcome people from all walks of life both on matchday and throughout the week. We look forward to this continuing for many years to come.
“Hereford FC continues to work closely with Herefordshire Council, who are fully supportive of football remaining at Edgar Street for the long term”.
Following notifications, the nomination is now published on Herefordshire Council’s website where it will remain for 5 years.
