Then you need a hair of the dog. Get yourself back to the Street on Tuesday for the next fascinating episode of “chasing the dream.” Personally, I dare not get too carried away, I’m focussing, just like the Gaffer, on one game at a time. What I can readily acknowledge is that we can win without key players. We have the fifth best home record and we’re the fifth highest scorers. And .. these are good times to be a Bull.
In town are full-time Buxton. They have scored more goals than us though have conceded far more too. History favours us with Buxton winning only one of the five matches between the clubs., Earlier this season we grabbed a last-minute win at the Silverlands. But this season we are changing history. Brackley beaten away. Kings Lynn defeated and even spoilers Alfreton for once left with nothing.
With the lavish support of a local building company, the Bucks enjoy their full-time status. Their modus operandi is, beyond growing their own, to sign young players aged 21-24 who can live in the “spare” houses, the company just happen to own in the town. Presumably said players can be sold later at a profit. Player turnover is brisk and seems every player from last season has now departed. Recent new signings include new striker Johnny Johnson from Redditch (our territory. Yes, OK Halesowen’s turf too who took 5 Reds this season). Both the personnel change and the abundance of youth (18 of their 25-man squad are 22 or younger) can make for some patchy form. The Bucks have galloped up and down the table and currently lie in eighth place after two straight defeats. They’ve won 7 away games (including at Scunthorpe and Chester), enjoying the trappings of being full-time though equally have also lost 7 on the road. With only one point gained in 9, they will feel under pressure.
They are a passing team, buoyed by the consistency of their 4g playing surface. Wide man (and loanee) Popoola with his pace and crossing ability is a key player for them. Their four strikers (aged 17-22) have only 4 goals between them so they really heavily lean on left winger Luke Brennan to contribute (8 goals so far). One player I do admire is central defender Kieran Burton. You won’t miss his long hair. Or his classy defending, passing and his eye for goal, (4 so far).

Don’t think DAZN are covering this game. I’ll be flogging 50/50 and Golden Goals so stop me and buy six.
