Hereford surged into the play-off positions with yet another solid away performance at King’s Lynn ensuring the Bulls have now secured 5 wins in the last six matches. The big question now is whether Paul Caddis’ squad can take advantage of three home games on the spin – starting with relegation threatened Warrington who are on the crest of a slump.

While Farsley Celtic have garnered all the negative headlines of late, our Cheshire visitors’ recent form is even worse.  A single point picked up in their last 8 games (a goalless draw against Farsley) leaves Warrington bottom of the table. Overall, it’s one win in 17 with a nasty habit of conceding goals late in each half. Our visitors are in their second season since promotion and have struggled throughout. As do most new arrivals without pots of money. On the road, the Yellows have only gathered 10 points with just one away win, and that was bask in October at Radcliffe.

The cash sale of their main forward Connor Woods to Chester is linked to their dismal form of 3 goals scored in those last 8 fixtures.  In the last eight games they’ve also missed key defender Evan Gumbs who scored in the corresponding fixture at Warrington. Their organiser at the back Peter Clarke is also out of the team, though at 43 it’s not so surprising. Goal scorer against Hereford, target man Josh Amis has struggled for fitness and form all season. The experienced striker has only one goal since October and is injured again.  All 4 (plus left back Andy White also knackered) played a key part in Warrington’s first ever victory over the Bulls. As did Sammy Robinson’s red mist moment. That’s another factor in encounters between the two clubs; someone is always sent off. Three matches, four dismissals so far. Given the two clubs have over 130 bookings between them in the 2024/25 campaign, don’t be surprised to see more cards being brandished.

Warrington have resorted to using two 19 years old loanees as their central defence. You might imagine ex Bull Ollie Southern would be a better bet. Sadly, this season is much the same as his previous one being more out the team than in. Only 13 starts this term, right back is still his team position when he’s fit. Add a raw defence to an attack in the absence of Amis, which boasts only 3 goals all season and their shortcomings are obvious. “Poor decision-making” laments their manager after each defeat.  He admits to sleepless nights.  To add to his woes, he has no-one in midfield. Craig Noone. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Yet another Tuesday night fixture this month, but an opportunity surely to exploit the Wire’s lack of confidence and senior players and improve our modest record at Edgar Street under the lights?

Can the Bulls now maintain the play-off push? New signing Remaye Campbell should make his home debut in this one, that after scoring immediately on donning a Bulls’ shirt at King’s Lynn. Warrington will be fighting for their very survival in the National League North. Make sure you are there.
